| STORAGE CONDITIONS AND HANDLING |
| Keep away from food stuffs, beverages and animal feed. Wash hands and exposed skin before eating, drinking, smoking and after work. Store in a cool, well ventilated area away from sources of heat. Keep the containers closed when not in use. Protective measure when handling bulk or spilled material: Use gloves, respirator, goggles. Handling spilled material: Absorb in sand or clay, shovel up into covered containers for disposal. Wash spilled area with an alkaline solution. Then flush with water. Shelf life (in an opened containers): at least 2 years Additional Information: When handling chlorpyriphos wear protective clothings & goggles. Avoid breathing vapour or inhaling directly. | EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURE |
| First Aid in case of Skin contact : Remove contaminated clothing. Wash with water and soap. Eye contact : Immediately remove any contact lenses and rinse with gently running water for 15 minutes, maintaining eyelids open. Seek medical attention. Inhalation : Remove from danger zone. Obtain Medical Advice. Ingestion : Vomiting may cause lung damage. If a physician is reachable within the next 15 minutes, contact him first. If vomiting is induced, victim has to be in head-down position. Give 1 or 2 glasses of water to drink rapidly, then introduce a finger gently into throat. Obtain medical assistance. In case of unconsciousness keep victim in lateral head-down position. Give 1 or 2 glasses of water to drink rapidly, then introduce a finger gently into throat. Obtain medical assistance. | SYMPTOMS OF POISONING |
| Mild to moderate poisoning : Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain. Contracted pupils, blurred vision. Salivation, lacrimation and sweating. Slowed pulse. Severe poisoning : Muscle fasciculations. Severe diahorea. Respiratory difficulty, cyanosis, coma, generalized convulsions. Cardiac arrest. Antidote : Atropine, only by injection is specific antidote, and artifical respiration may be needed. Do not induce vomiting if swallowed. Treat symptomatically and use antidote immediately. If poisoning occurs call a physician immediately. |
